Wed 9, Fri 11, Sat 12, Wed 16, Sat 19, Wed 23, Fri 25, & Sat 26 April @ 7:30pm Matinees: Sat 12, Fri 18, Sat 19, Sun 20, Sat 26 & Sun 27 April @ 2:00pm Les Miserables presented by BATS Theatre Company at The Events Centre, Minchinton Street, Caloundra This international smash-hit may be the most popular musical in the world. In 19th-century France, Jean Valjean is released from 19 years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust & mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a life-long struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. Finally, during the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life & saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean’s adopted daughter. His world-view shattered, Javert commits suicide, & Valjean at last attains the peace he has sought for so long.
Epic, grand & uplifting, Les Misérables packs an emotional wallop that has thrilled audiences all over the world. The sung-through pop opera is ideal for a cast of exceptional singers & overflows with melodies that are already standards. A spectacle on Broadway & in London, Les Misérables is equally effective with a minimal set; it is its powerful affirmation of the human spirit that has made Les Misérables a popular masterpiece. “Theatre just doesn’t get any better than this” - Miami Herald Tickets: $36.00 Adult, $32.00 Concession, $19.00 Child/Student, $95.00 Family (2 Adult + 2 Children). Thu 24 Apr Ian Moss & Jon Stevens ‘Let’s Get Together’ Tour The Events Centre Caloundra 8pm They blew audiences away when they took to the stage together during their memorable “Six Strings and The Works” tour. Now, two years later and hot on the heels of their respective national tours, Australian rock legends Ian Moss and Jon Stevens get together again to play major venues around Australia in March and April 2008. Promoting the release of his acclaimed CD "Let's All Get Together" (which celebrated a Top 50 debut in the ARIA Charts), Mossy has just completed a sellout tour of theatres across the nation. Stevens, currently working on new material for his next album, has been playing to packed houses with his solo shows and with the recently reformed Noiseworks. Now, the Moss & Stevens – Let’s Get Together tour will see two of this country’s most powerful vocalists join forces for an unforgettable concert experience. Fans will be treated to solo performances of Chisel and Noiseworks classics, as well as some favorites from Moss’ and Stevens' solo careers. But it’s not all about solo performances. This tour has an all-star, multi-Platinum line-up featuring very special guests, Jack Jones giving audiences a fresh taste of Southern Sons hits, and the inimitable Tania Doko who will revive some much-loved tunes from her former multi-ARIA Award winning outfit, Bachelor Girl. Not only do we have four of the finest voices in Australia delivering their classics on the one stage; Moss and Jones are arguably two of this country’s most revered guitarists and collectively, Moss, Stevens, Jones and Doko have sold millions of albums around the world.
