Wed 3 Dec Flat on your Bacharach The Events Centre, Caloundra 7.30pm Following the success of their 2004 National Tour, the smash hit cabaret show “Flat on your Bacharach” will be performing at The Events Centre in Caloundra on December 3 as a part of their 2008 touring season.
Supported by Playing Australia, the South Australian trio Matthew Carey, Melissa McCaig and Libby O’Donovan promise a glorious trip through the timeless hits of Burt Bacharach - with a wry twist of fun!
“The show has come such a long way”, remarks Carey, musical director. “What began as a side project for the three of us has now become a sensational success”.
Success which has seen the trio perform in six states and territories across Australia as well as being invited as special guests to perform in Vancouver, Canada.
“Cabaret is currently enjoying resurgence in popularity within the entertainment industry” said O’Donovan. “It is great to see that local acts are gaining international recognition and promoting the huge pool of talent we have here in Australia.”
Billed by the Sydney Morning Herald as “powerful, sassy performers”, Flat on your Bacharach recently won the Adelaide Advertiser’s Yorrick award for “Best Cabaret” and were runners up in the “Best Cabaret” category in the Light Year Awards for Professional Performing Arts.
“Flat on your Bacharach’s” debut performances in 2001 received rave reviews and since then the show has enjoyed huge popularity. The Adelaide Festival Centre included the show in its Morning Melodies program where it was the fastest selling show the producers had ever seen.
A sold out season at the internationally acclaimed Adelaide Cabaret Festival followed. Frank Ford, initiator and chair of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival Advisory Committee said “We consider it one of the great successes of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival that local artists like the rising stars of “Flat on your Bacharach” are given the recognition they deserve. Among the many interstate and international artists “Flat on your Bacharach” shone brilliantly.”
Vocalists Melissa McCaig and Libby O’Donovan each travel overseas regularly as performers but McCaig says there is a special thrill performing to audiences in Australia. Tickets: Adults $25.50, Conc. $22.50, Child/Student $16.50 To book Ph: 5491 4240 or visit www.theeventscentre.com.au
