Caloundra celebrates special days & events in a big way right throughout the year. Celebration Park with its ampitheatre at Kings Beach is the setting for many spectacular events staged during the year, appealing to local residents & visitors alike, with Caloundra’s iconic surfing beach providing the perfect backdrop.
Here’s an overview of what’s coming up in Caloundra in 2016: More events will be added as they are confirmed during the year.
April is a huge month kicking off with fitness guru Michelle Bridges visiting Kawana to inspire you. Lifeline’s ginormous Bookfest is back at Kawana. Annie is back & so are the Ten Tenors. Catch up with the Pyjama Game, Educating Rita & the Brisbane Symphony Orchestra. Get up early on Mon 25th April for the ANZAC Day march to commemorate 100 years since Gallipoli.
The Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow rocks up on our doorstep for huge laughs once again inMay. Forever Diamond, Leonard Cohen, Carol King Songbook & the Bee Gees will take you back to the best days of your life - the tribute shows just keep on coming! While the real stars also pay a visit- Todd McKenney, Eric Burdon & the Animals & Foster & Allen will play live in Caloundra. Discovery Weekend will awaken your conscious at Kawana. The Maleny Agricultural Show just sneaks in on Fri 27 May, giving Caloundra it’s very own local public holiday. (Remember, Labour Day is back on in May but Qld’s Queens Birthday Holiday has now been moved to October.) Confusing we know...
In June it’s time once again for the spooky Charmaine Wilson to tell us what we don’t know. The Eagles Tribute Show, The ABBA Gold Tribute Show - The Michael Jackson Legacy, The Supreme Dream, Helen Reddy Tribute will all bring back memories & you can sing along easily & have a ball because you DO know the words! - the Tributes abound.
July the massive Queensland Garden Expo is on again in Nambour. Playschool, Brothers 3, The Moon is a Balloon, Nickelby the Magician, The Fairies, Hula Hoop workshops, Romeo & Juliet plus a Simon & Garfunkel tribute make July a month full of variety & fun for the kids & the adults!
August has a bit of everything with the Brisbane Ekka smack bang in the middle of the month. The Ekka Public Holiday in Brisbane is Wed 10 August 2016. Hippo Hippo! is here for the kids. And the Wiggles!!! The Andrews Sisters & Elvis to the Max tribute shows are on & SuperGirly: the pop princess returns
In September there’s lots of Foodie & Music Festivals & Open Gardens to attend with Spring in the air. Check out the Noosa Jazz Festival, The Real Food Festival in Maleny or Strawbfest at Chevallum then finish off at the Kenilworth Festival as they all celebrate the freshness of the season that is Spring! The Nutcracker & Little Red in the Hood add culture to the month that is over run with footy finals.
October get ready to rock at the 2016 Caloundra Music Festival being held 1-3 October. In Caloundra it’s Rocktober! Works in so well with the relocated Queens Birthday Long Weekend - now on Mon 3 October 2016. Rock on for 3 days & recuperate on Monday! Awesome! Othello & John Williamson will be joining us at The Events Centre while Mother & Tequila Mockingbird entertain the theatre crowd at Kawana!
The excitement doesn’t stop in November with heaps of fabulous live entertainment & much more, our very own Melbourne Cup Day celebrations at Corbould Park Caloundra on Tues 1 Nov 2016 & we commemorate the City’s favourite son on Steve Irwin Day Sun 15 Nov 2016.
As we wind down to Christmas it’s Robert’s very grown up 13th birthday at Australia Zoo in December, then we finish off the year with Carols on Kings & celebrate Christmas on Sun 25th & Boxing Day Mon 26th Dec 2016, then head off to our favourite piece of paradise, the utopia that pops up every year & brings joy to the world — Woodford Folk Festival only a short drive away from Caloundra—between Christmas & New Year.
